A wonderful day out!
This day in the Cotswolds far exceeded my expectations! Our guide, Scotty, was readily identified at the train station, and we started our tour at Becky’s cottage with pastries and coffee or tea, a look around part of the cottage that included her welcoming kitchen with its fantastic AGA, and then off to villages and cottages that one wouldn’t have a hope of locating on one’s own. Scotty was full of information — and interesting, not like a snoozy university lecture; you’ll be very lucky indeed if he is your guide for the day. We had some rain, but it didn’t dilute our experience in the least — although I would recommend wearing shoes that allow for some uneven terrain and will wipe clean easily. (Scotty had umbrellas available if anyone needed.) Our lunch back at the cottage was beyond plentiful and so delicious, with Becky and her daughter urging us to replenish our plates — an experience that was duplicated when we returned for a cream tea at the end of the day. (3 notes: Keep some pounds in your pocket if you leave your bag on the bus; there is an opportunity to buy postcards at one of the stops. Also, the mini-van is spacious enough that tall people will not be cramped for space. Finally, do not mistake any other tours in the area for this one!)
I’ve been taking days out of London for 27 years. This was definitely one of my very best experiences. You won’t be disappointed! Alison
Magical day!
My girlfriends and I recently went on the Secret Cottage Tour and had a magical day! Robin our tour guide, was wonderful and engaging from start to finish. This is such a unique and intimate tour, we had the good fortune of having such wonderful company in our group, which was an added bonus. The sights are beautiful, charming, and special. The villages, scenery, animals, thatched-roof cottages, pub, interesting information, and history all on this tour. Not to mention, the warm and welcoming time at the cottage for enjoying an assortment of sandwiches, baked goods, tea, and coffee, served by our lovely hosts for the day. A day of fun, conversation, delicious bites and fabulous lush landscape. A truly special day in The Cotswolds. Lorraine
Wonderful Experience
My husband and I were wanting to see just what the Cotswolds was all about and this tour gave it to us and more. We loved seeing all the villages. Our tour guide was excellent. To be able to go into the Secret Cottage and have tea and lunch was the highlight. The food was wonderful and Polly was so welcoming. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Cathy
Secret Cottage…Wow
What a great experience.! A great tour of the Cotswolds with friendly guides plus Polly’s wonderful food. This was not a tour….it was time spent with friends as they proudly showed you their community. John
Joyfulness in the Cotswolds
I’ve had an opportunity to take many tours, many of which are interesting, and some less so. I had researched tours in the Cotswolds and the Secret Cottage Tour intrigued me, yet I didn’t know what I was signing up for. Well, Becky Simpson and her team, really had their act together as this was a very well-coordinated and well-organized experience. It proved to be a different type of tour as we visited places that tourists typically don’t go to, as the buses aren’t able to navigate these locations. Traveling in a Mercedes minivan (7 passengers) was the perfect way to see the incredible landscapes and vistas. The villages and towns we visited were well-selected and captured our imagination of what life is like now and was like over the centuries in this charming part of England. The guides were extremely accommodating, very warm and highly informative. Some really funny stories and anecdotes were shared with us about the sights we visited, and it was such an amusing experience. During the course of this tour, we stopped at Becky’s Cottage for morning tea and pastries which were exceptional. Then we were treated to a spectacular lunch which was more than plentiful and to top that off, later in the afternoon we had afternoon tea with yet more incredible pastries. No one expected all of that, and it made this tour very unique and special. This is not a tour you will not want to miss as it more than lived up to my high expectations. It’s obvious why people on the tour were so charmed by this adventure. Barry
