Wonderful Day Trip from London
Robin, David, and Polly were wonderful hosts and provided so much hospitality and rich history that my husband and I would never have been able to get if we had toured on our own. Our tour group consisted of two 7-seater vans, and although it was a bit crowded inside the secret cottage, it was hardly noticeable because of the amazing spread that Polly out for us! Proper tea and coffee with a hand made spread for both morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea! The cottage itself was of course beautifully preserved and the garden outside was quite lovely.
I will warn that the train ride to Moreton-in-Marsh (meeting point) is rather expensive for a one day round ticket from London. The cost of this tour is totally worth the money, but you should also factor in the cost of the train ticket, which was 75 pounds per person at the time of our booking. Regardless, my husband and I thought it was money well spent. Really appreciated Robin and David putting up with our numerous requests for pictures. 🙂 Thank you for a lovely day!
Delightful even in the rain!
As previous reviews mentioned, they have 3 food services throughout the day, so come hungry!
The cottage itself is very charming and Polly was exceedingly accommodating. She and her mom prepare ALL the food everyday — a daunting task for many but not to them it seems ! There is a morning tea with pastries, a lunch, and an afternoon tea with various cakes and desserts. All were delicious and plentiful.
It was raining much of the time, but we still enjoyed the landscape and the area’s history.
Our drivers were accommodating and very knowledgeable. There is an opportunity to visit a store that was filled with great quality items to suit all tastes.
This tour provides an unique opportunity to see what is behind the cottage walls — a treat not to be missed.
Amazing Day Tour
Becky and Scotty were wonderful guides and Polly’s masterwork in the kitchen was mind blowing. Secret Cottage is beautiful and Becky is a gracious hostess.
A knowledgeable team that truly makes this small group tour feel very personable. They know the ‘hot spots’ to visit and make sure that everyone feels included.
I would have never been able to navigate these beautiful towns on my own and am very grateful that I found this tour. It was a quick train ride from London (best from a window seat to see the countryside roll out in front of you),
Thank you all so much for such a wonderful day. I hope to visit again for a longer stay.
Take this tour!!
My mother, father, sister and I took this wonderful tour, our guides Robin and Andy welcomed us immediately, getting to know us all throughout the day. Penny was a personable, skilled hostess offering many wonderful homemade goodies inviting us into her home to experience a slice of Cotswold life. The tour of the Villages and countryside was a beautiful and joyous experience!!
Enchanting!
When planning our trip to the UK, we decided to see what the “Secret Cottage Tour” was all about. Four of us decided it was the best tour while in the UK. We took a train to Moreton-in-Marsh and Robin picked us up at the station. Becky had a lovely coffee/tea/edibles waiting for us at the cottage. It was more lovely and comfortable than I expected. We then took off on one of our driving adventures and loved the countryside and beautiful homes we passed or visited. Then back to the cottage for a buffet lunch. We were invited to tour the cottage and all its charming nooks and crannies. There’s a special surprise IN the fireplace mantel but you’ll have to go to see for yourself. Then we were off again visiting places those ugly big buses can’t go. The Cotswolds are a fairyland of well maintained cottages and lovely huge homes. Then back to the cottage for an afternoon tea…another wonderful spread with delicious sandwiches, pastries, scones, etc. We all felt like we were visiting family. Becky and the Robins (2, at least) made us feel like we were the first and only visitors they had at the cottage. All in all, it was a lovely, comfortable and delicious visit to another time and place, when life was maybe not as easy as today, but certainly more gracious.
