Secret Cottage Tour-The Highlight of our trip to England!
We took the tour together- my husband, his sister and myself…Robin was our funny and awesome driver. The villages that we visited were all charming, and Robin’s narrative kept it so interesting and entertaining. He created a wonderful commaraderie among his captive audience, so we made some great new friends. We were served a lovely tea & pastries in the morning, scrumptious lunch, and a beautiful cream tea in the afternoon…all at Becky’s Secret Cottage. Her daughter Polly baked and served everything so elegantly, and we were spoiled beyond any expectation. Becky,s husband (also a Robin) held down things at the office. This was a beautifully run tour, and we would do it again. We added the Mystery Tour the following day–food on our own, thank goodness–thanks so much to our lovely Secret Cottage family! We want to be adopted by all of you! Carol & Buz Smith & Lois Jones from Colorado, USA
Everything we had hoped for and more
The Cotswold villages were everything we had hoped to see and the opportunity to see the interior of such an historic and beautiful cottage was a surprise and a bonus. After 4 months of travelling this was one of our highlights and we would thoroughly recommend.
The Cotswolds are AWESOME and the Simpson’s are AWESOME
Me and my wife did this tour on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. We were met at the train station in Moreton-in-Marsh by the owner Becky and our 2 tour guides Andy and Claire. The group was divided up into 2 groups. We went with Claire and had a great time, she created an environment where everyone on our van got along great. Everyone got a chance to sit in the front, the middle, the back, by a window, etc….We laughed, we learned and most of all we got to experience the beauty of such an amazing region. The Cotswolds were the highlight of our 3 week vacation in England and Italy. Each time we stopped at one of the charming little villages, the other van would join us and we would learn the history of the area. Andy, who was the driver of the other van was the one who would talk about the history of the villages to both groups, he was very knowledgeable and made everyone feel so important. The tour is very organized, everything is evenly spaced out and the pace is perfect for everyone. The day we went it was actually raining throughout the day and quite cool, but we were dressed for the weather. Each van has umbrellas in it for those that do not have on a rain coat. The reason this tour is called THE SECRET COTTAGE TOUR and not The Cotswold Tour is because of The Secret Cottage. The highlight of the tour is actually getting to go inside the thatched roof cottage of the owners. It was like stepping back in time and I mean stepping back 100’s of years in time. The owners Robin and Becky Simpson along with their daughter Polly were awesome. Polly was a great host and as all the other reviewers have stated she prepares all the food, tea, coffee, pastries, etc. Polly was very mature and was a joy to talk with. Robin joined the group on the last visit of the day to the cottage and I was able to speak with him for a few minutes and he was very interested on what I thought of the tour and our experiences being out of the USA for the 1st time ever. Becky and her family even provided a special cake for a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, which pretty well summed it up for me. The Simpsons and the tour guides make you feel like family, they make you feel like a person and not just a body on the tour. See the Secret Cottage, do the tour, see the Cotswolds and meet a family that makes YOU feel so important in THEIR actual home all while stepping back in Time.
Look no further if you want an amazing tour of the Cotswolds!
We almost skipped visiting the Cotswolds given our brief stay in the UK but as it turned out, this was the best experience of our trip! There are a lot of tours advertised for this part of the world, but I have no reservations in saying that this was the best. Becky and her family were wonderful hosts and our tour guide Ian was both expert and incredibly friendly. The food was fantastic and the unique, small-sized, view of this beautiful country was worth every penny. I’m only sad we didn’t have more time to see their other tour! Thank you for a wonderful day and memorable experience!
AWESOME!
It was one of the most interesting guided tour my daughter and I had ever been on! The warmth and meticulous way Becky and her family took to ensure we had an everlasting and memorable time at Cotswold; from the cottage experience to the sumptuous 3 meals prepared with much love and thought, not forgetting the cellar too! It was really a secret cottage with so many surprises in store… it was a gem of a cottage! Thank you Claire and Nick for sharing the beauty and unique character of Cotswold, especially the secret cottage! You two made our day worth it! We will always cherish these wonderful memories for a long, long time! Well done! Continue to promote the beauty of Cotswold to the world.
Perfect day
My husband and I just spent one of the best days ever and one we will never forget. First, we were met at the train station by a very friendly group especially Claire who would be our tour guide. She greeted us and said wanted us to be with her. There was a second van driven by Nick, an equally friendly fellow. The tour started with a stop at Becky’s beautiful home where her charming daughter Polly greeted us with wonderful coffee, tea and breakfast treats. This would be the first of 3 prepared food spreads and each one was spectacular. I have to mention that they went out of their way to accommodate me and my vegan diet at each meal which was so appreciated. The tour itself was magical and we were taken to places we would have never known to go to made even more special by Claire and her interesting stories about the history of the Cotswolds. She is smart, fun and a joy to be with. Thank you to the wonderful Simpson family for opening your home to travellers.
