England gets bad rap for its weather.
From grey winters to cold summers to lashing rain, we Brits are always complaining about what’s going on in the sky!
But we think differently here at Secret Cottage.
We love the mystery of days of fog and mist. We find our unpredictable summers quirky and let’s fact it, the rain can be invigorating and enlivening.
As we say – there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing!
If you’re visiting England during a grey winter we have just the thing for you with our day trip from London to Cotswolds.
Ok, so we’re biased, but we believe that the Cotswolds are beautiful all year round and whatever the weather!
This time of the year the autumn colours are spectacular and in winter, everything feels hushed when hidden in a blanket of fog. And of course, we have those elusive perfect winter days when the skies are blue and cloudless and everything is covered in frost. Some of our guests say Secret Cottage is like Fairyland and it’s those frosty days I can see it myself.
Although Mindi recently wrote she felt the tour was heaven! She said “This tour took me to HEAVEN. No other way of putting it. If you are a history buff, and love a proper English tea service, and charming people and views that will take your breath away, please, do not go on this tour!”
Our Day trip from London to Cotswolds is stress free for you. All you need to do is board the train at Paddington and in just over an hour and a half we’ll be picking you up from Moreton-In-Marsh station ready to begin your tour.
We’ll start with pastries and coffee and our 500 year old thatched cottage before going into the beautiful countryside to enjoy some stunning scenery. Once your appetite is built up, it’s back to the cottage for a beautiful buffet lunch. We try and include as much local food as possible, so you get a real taste of England. After more trips out in the afternoon, to places that are off the beaten track. we’ll return to the cottage for a traditional English cream tea.
You’re free to explore the cottage with its winding staircases, historic beams and stunning inglenook fireplaces. And if the weather is kind, you can even potter around our garden, soaking up the ambience of this beautiful part of the world.
All in all we think you’ll agree that the Secret Cottage Tour is one of a kind. Here’s what Randy recently wrote “Tour was much more enjoyable than the Lonely Planet driving tour, which we took the next day which mainly hit the “touristy” towns.”
