It’s not just rolling hills and honey coloured cottages on our Secret Cotswolds Tour. We see many fascinating scenes on our day tours!
Today, as we’ve moved into autumn, we wanted to share some of our favourite interesting photos from the summer.
It’s these unusual insights, that make us one of the Best cotswold tours.
Old ice cream van
Many people will remember being a child and running outside when they heard the chime of the ice cream van! In the 1950’s there were around 20,000 ice cream vans operating across the country. Unfortunately, due to legislation and knock down supermarket prices, there are now less than 5,000.
We were delighted to see this old ice cream van at Toddington
Blue police box
Depending on your age, you’ll either think of a Police Box as the time machine, a Tardis from Dr Who, or you’ll remember the real thing!
A police box was a particular type of telephone box found in locations all around Britain where members of the public could contact the police. The police also used them as mini stations to read and fill out reports and even hold prisoners on a temporary basis! A light on top of the box would flash to alert an officer that they were requested to contact the station.
Here’s a police box spotted in Chipping Campden.
Unusual guests at Secret Cottage
We welcome guests from all across the world on our Secret Cottage Tour. Here are two unusual guests enjoying the clean air and taking tea at Secret Cottage – can you spot them?
During his time in Campden he wrote his first successful book Stamboul Train – which was later turned into the film Orient Express. Here’s the plaque where Graham Greene once lived in Chipping Campden.
