Six hour guided Cotswolds tour of hidden villages

home-new-2

Hello, I’m Becky the tour guide. I’m married and have two teenagers. I run a day tour of picturesque hidden Cotswold villages that includes an invitation
into my private home for tea or coffee with pastries, a buffet lunch, and a traditional Cotswold cream tea served inside Secret Cottage.

Every day throughout the Year. A six hour guided day tour of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire north Cotswold villages, combined with intervals in my private thatched cottage.

I will take you in my minibus to outstanding hidden villages that are inaccessible by public transport. The unspoilt villages that I’ve carefully selected are made up of thatched cottages, clipped lawns and dusty lanes, which perfectly illustrate what life was like in the 16th century. Having lived in the area for twenty five years, my local knowledge is invaluable to visitors and I will enjoy sharing it with you ‘as if you are a local’.

I’m lucky that I’ve travelled extensively throughout the world and know what it’s like to get home, only to discover you’ve missed an amazing secret, all because you weren’t familiar with the area.

What gave me the idea for starting the tour was that every tourist yearns to see inside these cottages and to see how the English conduct their daily lives. . I suddenly thought....“I live in a pretty thatched cottage and I’d love to show people what I experience every day”.

That’s why I created ‘Secret Cottage’ an incredibly special Cotswold tour. You won’t miss anything in this unspoilt part of England because I’m here to be your personal Cotswold Tourist Guide and take you on a unique and memorable day through hidden villages that I know and love.

My cottage is called ‘Secret Cottage’ and is quintessentially perfect for guests to explore and experience how the English live in the Cotswolds. Inside everything is old and quaint, there are three inglenook fireplaces which are open log fires used to heat the cottage, the winding stairs and floors are made from original elm planks and the heavily beamed listed cottage is nearly 500 years old!

During the tour of villages, we periodically return to Secret Cottage for tea or coffee with pastries, a generous buffet lunch and in the afternoon your tour wouldn’t be complete without seeing the home made scones coming out of the Aga. These are essential for the traditional English Cotswold cream tea which is served on the finest Spode bone china.

All of my guests are overwhelmed by the experience of being invited into a private home with many of them describing it as fairyland.

The Cotswolds are visited and appreciated all year round and are one of England’s favourite destinations. Beautiful rolling hills, meadows and unspoilt views combine with ‘chocolate box’ cottages, traditional English gardens and tiny villages.

Each tour is unique because of the different seasons and local events. Depending on the time of year, I decide which route to take for the day, by assessing what the different nationalities would like to see and consistently deliver a bespoke memorable tour that is guaranteed to please everybody with plenty of surprises.

During the tour you’ll see a selection of amazing honey coloured limestone houses and cottages, view landscapes and drive through parkland, see topiary, historic manor houses and stunning ancient churches. You'll see National Trust houses, farms, gardens, wells, streams, fords, ponds, barns, dovecotes, animals, wildlife and village greens. You’ll visit picturesque villages that most tourists never get to see – stopping off at some and driving through others. Depending on the time of year, you will be pleasantly surprised at what else we’ll show you too.

But that’s not all...

You’ll discover something that isn’t in your tourism guide. You won’t find it listed in the tourist information centre and it doesn’t appear in books and maps...

With only seven passenger seats in the Mercedes minibus, you’re guaranteed that you’ll be my personal guest and can choose when you’d like to stop and take your pictures.

This year my husband and I made a new years resolution to get to know our local area.
There are so many great places on our doorstep in the North Cotswolds but we only knew a fraction of them.
We checked out various tour companies and after numerous recommendations, settled on Becky at Secret Cottage.
We couldn't have chosen better!

We were made to feel like special guests from the moment we were picked up and to visit her house and be treated to such amazing food was a real treat. The food was excellent, the scenery was breath-taking and we've learned about hidden places we never
knew existed.

We've already booked to take the tour again in autumn when the colours will be at their best.
We're looking forward to more great food in front of Becky's fire!

Thank you Becky for such an amazing day spent exploring the secret life of The Costwolds.

We wanted something that would show us what it really feels like to live deep in the heart of the beautiful British countryside. We had visited the area once before and really enjoyed it and this time we were looking for something a little bit different. We came across Secret Cottage.

As soon as we arrived at this beautiful chocolate box cottage we knew we were in for a treat. We sat back and relaxed as we were transported back in time. Using Secret Cottage as our base it is hard to say which we preferred more, the amazing food and hospitality of our host or our little trips out to get a secret glimpse of hidden Cotswold gems, places normally hidden away from the public eye. We felt as though we had entered another world. A truly unique experience and a day we will never forget.

Wow, that was sensational Becky!

You certainly know where all the unspoilt villages are, now we can go back to a few of them in our hire car and explore the other ones that you’ve recommended.

Your cottage is fabulous, what a fantastic interior and John hasn’t stopped talking about your awesome cellar. Your garden’s so pretty too, how lucky you are to live there.

The Cream Tea finished the day off beautifully, your right, we didn’t feel hungry, lunch was very filling and extremely delicious.

I’d recommend your tour to anyone and when were next in England, perhaps we’ll book Secret Cottage again.

It's not often I write reviews. Something has to be exceptional and memorable.

The Secret Cottage tour run by Cotswold Tourism Tours ticks all the boxes for a fantastic day out. The North Cotswolds area is truly stunning and seems to encapsulate all the myth and splendour of the English countryside.

It was a real privilege to be welcomed into Becky's home to share and enjoy her hospitality. The food and drink was superb and every detail was just as we imagined that quintessential country home to be like, even down to the scent of the apple log fire and natural glow of beautiful antique furniture. Give yourself a treat one day; take the Secret Cottage tour and experience rural England at its finest.

It had been our dream for many years to visit England, especially the Cotswolds. We were advised to take a tour because of all the tiny villages and winding narrow roads - something we are not familiar with in Hong Kong.

You took us to the most beautiful villages and places we would never have found on our own. For us to experience life in an ancient English cottage too, was unbelievable. Becky we loved your warm scones. Thank you so much.

This was our first trip to The Cotswolds. It was so unbelievably quaint and pretty. All the villages we saw were totally unspoilt, especially Great Tew, It was like stepping into another world.

Thank you so much for your advise and the list you gave us was so useful for recommending further places to visit. I don't think we missed anything.

I'm writing on behalf of my parents who did the Secret cottage tour this week.
Both Mum and Dad had a fantastic time and came back from the trip full of smiles.
They loved actually being inside the cottage and being able to look around.
They had amazingly good things to say about the food especially the afternoon cream tea!
They loved being out and about and seeing some of the less travelled Cotswolds villages and the overall pace of the tour suited them perfectly.
All in all they had a great day and we would highly recommend this trip.

If you are considering doing this tour, think no longer! Book it and sit back for the most wonderful adventure. Take my word for it, this tour has it all. Becky is warm and funny, and makes you feel at home instantly. The food is wonderful, fresh and local. The secret cottage is warm and inviting- something a tourist may see on the outside and wonder what it would be like to go in. Not only did we get to go in, eat and relax by the fire, we were made to feel at home as if we were neighbors. I will never forget that feeling, MAGICAL! We saw everything we were hoping to see of the English countryside and loved it. It was my favorite part of my 10 day trip through England.

My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the pretty Cotswold villages such a contrast to London's hectic pace. We were collected from Moreton in the Marsh station so no need to drive down what a relief & so relaxing. We loved the Secret Cottage what a place to live & the food & drink wow. As though our stomachs were not full enough we were then treated to Becky's Scones with cream simply gorgeous!! Will definitely recommend to our London friends
